Scottie Scheffler (USA), the world No. 1 player in men's golf, injured his hand and will not be able to play in the opening game of the PGA Tour in the 2025 season.
The PGA Tour said on its website on the 28th (Korea Standard Time), "Sheffler will miss the 2025 season opener, The Sentry, due to an unexpected right hand injury."
"Sheffler was injured when he was stabbed in the palm of his right hand by a broken piece of glass while preparing dinner for Christmas. A small piece of glass remained in the palm of his hand, requiring surgery," Schaeffler's manager, Blake Smith, said in a statement. 메이저사이트
"I heard Scheffler could return 100% in three to four weeks," Smith said, adding, "Unfortunately, he will withdraw from The Sentry, and his next scheduled tournament is American Express."
The PGA Tour will kick off the 2025 season with The Sentry, which will take place in Kapalua, Maui Island, Hawaii from January 2 next year. The championship will be attended by the winner of last season's tour championship and players ranked within the top 50 in the FedEx Cup.
The Sony Open will then continue in Honolulu, Hawaii from January 9, and the American Express will be held in Lakinta, California, the United States from January 16.
Scheffler swept seven wins on the PGA Tour this year alone, and had his best year, winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics and the Hero World Challenge, an event hosted by Tiger Woods (USA).
Scheffler, who received the Jack Nicklaus Award given to the PGA Tour Player of the Year this year following 2022 and last year, was honored for the third consecutive year since Woods (1999-2003, 2005-2007).
